Au Revoir To Katie Falkenberg (and good luck!)

We wanted to wish Katie Falkenberg the best of luck. Katie was one of my former colleagues at the newspaper and one of my favorite 2nd shooters at our weddings. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to her when the LA Times came calling.  I highly recommend you look at some of her journalistic work from the last year by clicking here.  It’s not hard to see why our 2nd photographers are not “assistants”.  It’s also a no-brainer why she was taken to the Left Coast.

Katie — we will miss you terribly. You were not only wonderful to work with as a friend and a photographer but you created some amazing images for our brides and grooms that will be passed down through their new families generation after generation.

(Katie’s the non-ugly one on the left):

Katie made me laugh a lot during the weddings we photographed together.  There are a lot of funny stories (most of which can’t be told here!).  For some reason, a lot of groomsmen seemed very happy when they found out Katie would be spending the day with them instead of me.  I still can’t figure out why!

Audrey @ Two Weeks

Audrey was just short of 2 weeks old when I got the chance to photograph her at her home. Two weeks before, Audrey’s parents were supposed to come over for brunch. We got a call from Jeremy and Keri two hours before brunch that they were heading to the hospital.

Of course, I thought they just didn’t want to eat my pancakes (which were GREAT by the way!!!) but along came Audrey.  Actually Audrey came 30 minutes before blueberry pancake time so we definitely could have made more.  :-)

I love this first shot of her with her tongue out.  It reminds me of a photograph of my daughter at that age.  Plus, look at those guns!

Being a HUGE fan of The Big Lebowski, I had to photograph Audrey with Jeremy’s shirt.  Now I just need to find one of those shirts for myself!

Lana’s Maternity

We spent yesterday with our friends Lana and Matt.  Lana’s baby shower was yesterday and since the weather was gorgeous around here, we did an impromptu shoot near her home.

Lana looks great!  We can’t wait to meet the new little one!

Skins 26 – Cowboys 24

What a surprise!  I have a feeling a lot of people might have lost money on the “sure win” of Dallas.

I know I got lucky to be in the right place at the right time for both the Skins touchdowns.  This was my favorite photo of the team’s 2nd touchdown scored by Antwaan Randle El.  It ran on the cover of Sports today so I was happy.

Kaleb was a friend of mine from high school who recently moved to Dallas so we took him out to help us so he could see the really cool side of our job (and the really uncool side of all the waiting around).  Aside from post-season this should be the last time we have to deal with that horrible stadium.  The new one next year should be AWESOME!
