It’s Grace’s 2nd Halloween and this year she flipped out over a monkey outfit she saw in the store so Monkey it was.  She has spent much of the last week in her monkey outfit and it’s been pretty cute.

We also got to take some Fall pics of her and the family last weekend.

I was out looking for something fun and summery for the paper yesterday and remembered the dog beach near the Chesapeake Bay.  We take Grace on walks there a lot and we generally see a couple dogs playing in the water on a beach that is set aside for only canine use.

Yesterday there must have been easily 40 dogs playing in the water!  It was so much fun.  After emptying my pockets, I just waded into the water and started shooting.  It’s always a “bit” nerve-wracking to be waist deep in water with over $3,000 of equipment (add waves coming in and crazy dogs bounding around).  The photos turned out to just be so much fun and gave me that care-free summer look I was hoping for.

I love the look in Miko’s face.  This was only her second time in the water and she was NOT digging it so her owner had to find creative ways of getting her comfortable in it.

I was attempting to channel my “Inner Anna Kuperburg” today (say that 5-times-fast).  Check out her site of dog blog called Slobber Space.  It will bring a smile to your face.

Erin McCracken was an intern for us at the Times a few years ago and is now a photojournalist out in Indiana.  She called me up to ask if I would photograph some family portraits for her when she was back home.  The whole family is so easy-going and it was a lot of fun.
