New Connor Family Photos

Jack was born not too long ago long and skinny.  The skinny is no more!  He has chunked out like a little man.

Results Only Work Environment (ROWE)

My friend Josh Premuda of currentblend posted a blog entry on a concept today called ROWE – Results Only Work Environment.  This is something I knew but couldn’t quite put my finger on.  After 2 decades of working for “The Man”, this is something I believe whole heartedly in.

Now that I am my own boss and hire others to work for and with me, I can finally practice this.

If you have others working for you, you have to practice this.  I believe that in most work forces, the 40 hour work week is an antiquated system.  It tells an employee that the clock is their master, not their achievement.  Set goals for your workers and let them reach it the best way for themselves.  If they can make your goals and be happy doing it, you have nothing but a win, win, win, win…

Au Revoir To Katie Falkenberg (and good luck!)

We wanted to wish Katie Falkenberg the best of luck. Katie was one of my former colleagues at the newspaper and one of my favorite 2nd shooters at our weddings. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to her when the LA Times came calling.  I highly recommend you look at some of her journalistic work from the last year by clicking here.  It’s not hard to see why our 2nd photographers are not “assistants”.  It’s also a no-brainer why she was taken to the Left Coast.

Katie — we will miss you terribly. You were not only wonderful to work with as a friend and a photographer but you created some amazing images for our brides and grooms that will be passed down through their new families generation after generation.

(Katie’s the non-ugly one on the left):

Katie made me laugh a lot during the weddings we photographed together.  There are a lot of funny stories (most of which can’t be told here!).  For some reason, a lot of groomsmen seemed very happy when they found out Katie would be spending the day with them instead of me.  I still can’t figure out why!
