Kelly and I decided that any future maternity, baby or family photographs can only be taken on VERY cold days. They braved a frigid morning for their engagement session last year at the Cherry Blossoms and the photos were amazing. They braved a freezing windy day at the Lincoln Memorial on New Year’s Eve for portraits and they looked amazing! Why stop a good thing?!
It’s no secret that I love New Year’s Eve weddings. I’m not a big NYE fan so if I wasn’t photographing weddings, I would probably be in bed by 10. These weddings are ALWAYS a blast! Everyone is there ready to party into the night. There is definitely nobody leaving early!
We spent the day at the Fairmont getting ready with Kelly and Matt and their wedding parties. I thought Kelly and her ladies were awesome to photograph until Jonathan texted me a photo that the guys were breaking into some Pappy Van Winkle (jealous!). As beautiful (!) as Kelly was, it was hard to compete against her niece in the feathery dress!
After getting ready, it was off to the Lincoln. A HUGE THANK YOU to our couple and to their bridal party for braving some pretty nasty conditions to make beautiful photos!! We got our wedding party in and out as fast as we could and then took Kelly + Matt around for portraits. They were total troopers and I think it was definitely worth it.
We got back for a beautiful ceremony officiated by Kelly’s brother-in-law. My wife and I had our dads marry us so it’s always great when we see others have family officiate.
Then it was full on party mode for the rest of the night capped off by another great New Year’s kiss!
