Wedding Season Opens With My Little Brother’s Wedding

Wedding season began a little differently than normal this year. My little brother Korey moved back from Israel to be married just outside of New York City. I offered to photograph it but they wanted to make sure I could just be a guest so they used the photographer that works with the hall.

This was my first time to an ultra-Orthodox Jewish wedding and it was just amazing. The visuals were stunning — so different than normal that I couldn’t help it and had to photograph it. Of course I brought all of my equipment with me but decided to just bring in one camera and one lens. Once everything started rolling, I had to run out and grab another camera and lens.

First of all, it was just too visual not to want to photograph but I was also worried that moments between my family were being missed.  With my parents and sister living in Wyoming, Korey living in New York (and probably back to Israel soon) and my twin brother in Ohio, it was probably the first time all of us had been together in 15 years.
