Kate + Chris officially kicked off the non-100 degree wedding season (hopefully it stays!!). It’s been a pretty brutal summer around here so having an 80 degree day with low humidity in August would have been perfect even without a great couple. Add a gracious and low-key couple like Kate and Chris to that weather and it’s probably more than we deserve!
There are way worse places to have your wedding than The Hay Adams (like pretty much EVERY other place!). The view from the Top Of The Hay is second to none looking down on the White House and the Washington Monument. Out of town guests go nuts when they come into the room.
Kate wins the award for the least late bride ever. I got there a bit early and am glad I did. Her hair and makeup were done almost 2 hours early!! All the girls were just super chill and enjoying some good champagne.
I didn’t meet Chris before because he was in Iraq when Kate and I first met. At first look, you see this huge Lt. Cmdr. and then he starts talking and you realize instantly that he’s probably one of the nicest and most gracious people you will meet. The speech he gave to Kate was one of the best we’ve heard.
The ceremony was held in the Lafayette Room with one of the funniest priests I’ve ever heard. After that, it was off to the roof for the reception. There were a ton of thoughtful details including the Georgetown Cupcakes with a pink ribbon in memory of Kate’s aunt who had recently passed away.
