Ashleigh and Stephen’s wedding was a fun one. Once you cross over the Bay Bridge for an Eastern Shore wedding, you just feel any stress you have melt away and you are instantly ready to enjoy the day.
We started off the day at the Aspen Wye River Houghton House with the wedding party getting ready. I’ve been doing this long enough that I have generally seen it all but when Ashleigh dropped down to do pushups and tricep dips before getting into her dress, I thought it was awesome! Speaking of her dress, it was just absolutely perfect on her! While getting ready, she sent Stephen a little gift of a pair of socks with a note saying “in case you get cold feet…”. On a warm day like that, I don’t think anyone had to worry about cold feet.
The ceremony was beautiful. The shade and a little breeze made it comfortable. I’m sure Stephen’s groomsmen thanked him for letting them go jacket-less which fit the casual Eastern Shore nature.
Following the portraits, Ashleigh and Stephen were taken to their reception at Hunter’s Oak in style – a 1950’s convertible Chrysler. The photographs speak for themselves. Convertibles aren’t great on your hair but man they make for nice photographs!!
I’m generally not big on silly introductions because you see the same ones all the time but when the first groomsmen and a bridesmaid recreated the LeBron James chalk toss, you knew it was going to be a fun night! Some of my favorite sets of photos come during Ashleigh’s dad’s speech. Her mom’s reactions and her reactions were just priceless.
The rest of the night, their band Onyx just kept the party going full force. Once the ties went on the head (even Ashleigh’s dad), the party went into overdrive.
It was just a classic Eastern Shore relaxed wedding with an awesome reception. It was definitely fun!
