Here is a quick sneak peek from the end of the night with Samantha and Roberto. Rather than letting a little thing like Hurricane Irene ruin her day, Samantha bought some awesome pink rubber boots and rocked them outside at the end of the night for a portrait in the Hurricane. It takes a special couple to want to go out in that bad of weather but I think it was totally worth it.
We got super lucky with this one. Andrew is holding a light behind them and before rushing out into the driving rain and wind, all four of us went over what we needed to do when we got out there because there would be no time to fiddle around. This is the first of 8 frames and was the only one to be photographed before the wind crushed my umbrella and the lens got soaked ruining the other 7. Fine by me because I love this photo (and I love Samantha and Roberto for wanting to do it!!).
A quick word to my umbrella and Andrew’s umbrella – you served valiantly and your destruction was not in vain!
For all the photographers who keep asking:
Nikon SB-900 at 1/4 power (I think) on a Pocket Wizard behind them pointed directly back toward me. Camera: Nikon D3, Lens: 32mm, Shutter: 1/100, Aperture: f4, ISO 800. Only the one flash (all the fill on the front is from the umbrella they are holding and the dress bouncing back light down)
