These are actually two different sessions. The first family session was taken on Nicole’s birthday and went…. less than spectacular. It is really (I mean REALLY) hard for me to be taking the photo, in charge of lighting, in charge of posing and in the photo myself. Add a second child and it is almost impossible! As her birthday present, Nicole got peed on and (at a separate time) pooped on by Jack during this session. Happy birthday!! 
The last picture in the slideshow is the moment Nicole realized the latter scenario was happening in her hand. 
It was definitely time to call in the big guns so we asked Jonathan Newton (Washington Post photographer, neighbor, friend) to pop over and do us a favor. Wow, it is SO much easier just to be in a photograph than taking it as well. We set up a bunch of lights in our master bedroom to do some informal family pics. I was worried what the neighbors would think seeing all the pro photo gear in our master bedroom!
