Heather and Josh were supposed to kick off our Fall wedding season. Instead, the mercury inched up into the upper 90’s keeping summer hanging on a little while longer. We did get a beautiful sunset though.
After a mix-up with the bus service only getting half the guests to the church on time, the ceremony started late. Poor Josh was stuck in a little hallway in the back all by himself. Made for a funny photograph though. At least the AC was pumping in the church so it was comfortable.
The ceremony was full of emotion — a lot of tears not only from Heather and Josh but their families as well and a lot of laughter. I love emotional weddings!! After the wedding, the two of them left the sanctuary and shared this beautiful embrace where he lifted her up in the hallway. This is why I love my job. It was just the three of us and I don’t think anyone registered that I was there. They were able to share their moment and have the photographs of it forever.
After the family photographs at the church, we all piled into the limo and headed over to do bridal party photos at the Lincoln Memorial. After Heather showed off her awesome Christian Louboutin heels, the guys had to show off their shoes as well which got a laugh from everyone. The group photos and their portraits turned out beautifully there.
For any of our future brides — you have to have a permit to photograph on the National Mall. The minute they see tuxes and a wedding dress, the police are on you immediately as Heather and Josh saw after the third police officer approached us.
After that, it was off to Top of the Town in Arlington, Va. to party. The views from there are some of the best around. The outside deck is the best part when the weather is nice.
I was fortunate to have Deb Lindsey along to help me out for the day.
