I have known Katie’s dad for years as we both covered the Washington Redskins. Dan is a videographer for NBC4 in Washington and is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met (this is coming from a still photographer – a group not known to throw kind words out for videographers easily!). Last season while in the endzone of FedEx Field during a timeout, Dan asked me if I was still doing wedding photography as well and that’s how I ended up in Delaware with Katie and Tim.
For those of you thinking that beach weddings can only happen in the summer – think again. Fall weddings are absolutely beautiful. Less tourists, cheaper hotels, easier drive there and your guests (and your groom) will absolutely LOVE not sweating through everything they have on!
Katie’s mom and bridesmaids were fun to hang out with while getting ready. And how can you not fall in love with those three flower girls?! They especially liked when Katie rocked out in some pink shades. Tim and the guys were so easy going!
The wedding was about two blocks from the hotel in a little church so everyone just walked down the boardwalk to it. After that, it was off to the beach for portraits right as the sun was setting giving us beautiful light. I love the image Andrew got of Katie helping me to get Tim to smile.
The rest of the night was spent on the top floor of the Henlopen Hotel. We haven’t seen a cake topper in a long time that I can remember. I loved theirs. Very sweet on the front with a little surprise in the back.
