Our first meeting was on an unbelievably cold day last winter. My friend Arney Walker from Pineapple Productions set up the meeting and gave me some advice that during her first meeting, Kristen asked her for some adjectives to describe herself. Being constantly early to meetings, I remember sitting in my car coming up with adjectives to describe myself (and probably thought of some adverbs, pronouns and conjunctions – if those are possible – just in case). And even though Arney said they were a great couple, I also wondered what kind of bride and groom would ask such a thing…
Kristen and Grant are a rare type of people that I call “Two Minute People”. The easiest way to explain that is that if you don’t fall in love with them in the first two minutes of meeting them, there is probably something wrong with you. Sorry if I get all mushy here but Arney and I joked throughout this year that we had a serious Love-Fest for these two! Needless to say, the meeting went great but I was always a bit bummed I didn’t get the adjective question!
Sometimes bad weather happens to good people and that’s what Mother Nature had in store for us with cold October rain (not to confused with awesome November Rain). It changed some of our plans but didn’t seem to spoil their moods at all. The ceremony was beautiful and full of emotion and a lot of laughter. We even got to bring in their dog for portraits after the ceremony which was great.
The reception at the Chevy Chase Club was amazing. What Arney and her team did to an already amazing place blew me away. I am not too surprised anymore when I see beautiful receptions but this one made me do a double take. They even had a gelato bar later in the evening – who can’t get behind that idea!?!?
At the end of the night when I asked to get a photograph with the two of them, Kristen made my night with a kiss on the cheek. I can honestly say that’s a first!
I never got to tell them adjectives about myself but I could give you a serious list of ones about them. I know that you are both probably still scuba diving on your honeymoon right now but I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have been part of this moment in your lives!
