We have dealt with a LOT of rain this year (just read that it’s rained more here than London or Seattle this year). As the cherry on top, a week before, Mother Nature decided to throw a hurricane at us. Rain might be lucky on your wedding day but a bride can be forgiven for deciding that too much luck isn’t a good thing. As a credit to how awesome Laura and Michael are, they didn’t freak out (would have been totally understandable if they did!) – we just got a note asking what kind of umbrellas they should buy for photos. They probably didn’t think much of that email but it meant the world in this office!!
I get a lot of photographers and couples asking what we are looking for in our perfect couple. They probably assume it’s two super-models in the most expensive venue in town with a million dollars of decor to get into every publication out there. Not saying we’d turn that down but more than anything, we are looking to work with wonderful people. And when you find out a hurricane is coming and your only question is what umbrellas you should get, that rockets you to the top of “Wonderful People” status in a hurry!! Of course doing that as a beautiful couple getting married at St. Matthews and the St. Regis doesn’t hurt either. And having the hurricane miss us completely to give an absolutely gorgeous day was the icing on the cake. But it all goes back to a wonderful couple.
