Lauren + Jon | Wedding Photography | Holy Trinity, Washington, DC + Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Md.

Sometimes you meet with a client and you fall in love at first sight. That’s what happened last year when I sat down with Lauren and her mom to talk about their wedding photography — two of the nicest people I’ve ever met in this business. When you start out in this business, you are just looking for beautiful clients getting married at amazing places. When you’ve done it for a while, that stuff doesn’t matter nearly as much as finding brides and grooms who are as kind and wonderful as Lauren and Jon. (the fact that they are beautiful and had great locations is just the gravy!)

We started off the day with some beautiful storm clouds rolling through Congressional making everyone question how nice the weather was going to be. Luckily, the forecasters were right and while dramatic, they were short-lived. After fighting back a couple tears (good tears) while getting into her dress, it was off to DC for their ceremony at Holy Trinity in Georgetown. Some of my favorite photographs of the day are of Lauren and her dad alone waiting to walk into the ceremony and getting emotional.

Walking out of the church, it was like God gave them the most beautiful day so it was off to the Jefferson Memorial for portraits. We had some wind whipping Lauren’s long veil around which always makes a photographer happy!! Once we made it back to Congressional Country Club, we were able to just take Lauren and Jon down to the 18th Green to take their portraits.

The rest of the night was just a gorgeous blur. Their first dance was great (I wish I could dip my wife even half as well as Lauren and Jon can!). Once it got dark enough outside, we went out to the back patio for night portraits. The portrait you see is a 3 second exposure which is why you see the stars in the photograph. Most of our photos are taken at less than 1/100th of a second so for Lauren and Jon to stay absolutely still for 3 seconds to make that photograph is not the easiest thing for them.

Lauren and Jon – thank you so much for the kindness you showed Stephen and myself. It really is couples like you that makes what we do so enjoyable!
