Weddings all have different feels to them. Some are nothing short of a frat party. Some are very religious. Some are over-the-top formal. Lauren and Matthew’s wedding was chill. Everyone was having a good time in a beautiful place with no drama. We are all for good times, beautiful places and all against drama so it was perfect!
I started off with Lauren at her parents’ beautiful house with the ladies and her adorable nephew. It can be great getting ready at home because everyone has room to spread out and relax. Lauren’s dress was absolutely gorgeous!!
The ceremony was at St. John the Beloved in McLean which is a church in the round so it was great to photograph in because you could see the bride and groom. That’s a nice thing for guests and an even nicer thing for photographers!
Our plans of photographing the wedding party at Great Falls fell through after a Park Police officer on horseback told us we weren’t allowed to photograph there without a permit. It actually turned out ok in the end because it was a hot day and we were able to photograph back at the Ritz Carlton in the shade with a breeze which seemed to make the guys a lot happier!
The reception at the Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner was beautiful. One of my favorite moments was when Lauren’s nephew came out onto the dance floor during the Father/Daughter dance and they picked him up and danced with him for a bit. You know that he will never remember it but it was such a memorable moment for his aunt and grandpa.
I was out taking detail photos of their rings in the hallway while Andrew was in covering the dance floor when I heard Take Me Home, Country Roads start up. Matthew’s family is from West Virginia so I knew a good party was about to get even better and the dance floor was just crazy! It was a fun night.
