Maya + Steve | Wedding + Engagement Photographs | Nat’l. Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC

We really like our brides and grooms. The only way to talk about Maya and Steve is to say that we really, really, really like them! But it wasn’t just them. It was their bridesmaids, their groomsmen, their families… Everyone was just so amazing to be around and you got this sense that everyone there truly loved both of them so much. I know it sounds sappy, but it’s true.

We started our day with them getting ready at the Sofitel in Washington, DC (the rooms at the Sofitel have such great light). All the girls were hilarious to hang around! I loved their black dresses and they were all different.

After seeing each other for the first time, it was a quick one-block walk to the National Museum of Women in the Arts where Terri Eaves (and her associates) from Bash turned it into an amazing space for the ceremony. It’s hard not to make a dramatic entrance down the staircases there. The ceremony was held in the round with a beautiful Huppah. After the ceremony was over, everyone headed upstairs for cocktail hour while the main floor was changed over for the reception.

The space was just amazing for dinner and dancing. The first dance was so perfect in the middle of the floor with everyone being able to watch from above or below. Of course the Hora was fun and of course it scares the living heck out of the bride! It’s amazing we still put ourselves through that.

I was helped that day by Washington Post photographer Jonathan Newton and I speak for both of us when I say we couldn’t be happier for the both of them and their families!
