Nina and Jeff had such an amazing day to get married. The weather was amazing. The wedding party was a blast (that’s an understatement for a few of them – you know who you are!). Holy Rosary is a gorgeous church (one of my favorites in DC). And the Corcoran Gallery of Art looked stunning. When you top all of that with an unbelievably easy-going bride and groom, it’s the perfect storm.
We got there as Nina was getting ready. She pulled out her wedding shoes and before I saw them, I heard her tell our other photographer Andrew, “I like things that sparkle.” Once I saw the shoes, I knew what she was talking about! Probably the coolest wedding shoes we have ever seen! They were so much fun.
After Nina and Jeff saw each other, we took a couple photographs at the Willard and loaded up to go over to the Lincoln Memorial. It’s always funny to photograph there because you just don’t know what you are going to get with the people there. The 14-year-old boy yelling, “Kiss her, kiss her, KISS HER!!!” made everyone laugh. We went around to the corner to avoid having tourists in the photograph and then came back around and decided to have fun with it for some of their portraits.
After that, it was off to the church. Holy Rosary is beautiful but what I love most is the doors that lead right outside where the bride and her father have to come up stairs and enter. It always makes for beautiful photographs. Maybe it’s because of my little girl but I always love the photographs of the father giving her daughter away and Nina’s dad was no exception.
Terri and all the ladies from Bash, took the Corcoran which is already stunning and made it stunning-er! Everything looked perfect and the lighting on the dance floor made for one of my favorite first dance photographs ever! During dinner, myself, Andrew and our assistant Whitney were trying to think of how to make that photograph perfect. You always go in with an idea and after looking at Andrew’s photograph, it came out better than I could have hoped for!
The night went off beautifully and the dance floor stayed packed.
