I remember meeting Rachel and Doug at their home on Capitol Hill and falling in love with their wedding just hearing about it. They had everything in the proper perspective about the importance of the day and the importance of their friends and family. Sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in everything and forget that. I also love smaller weddings only because it reminds me of my wedding (well, my wife’s too I guess!).
We started off the day getting ready at the Hotel Palomar. Everyone was super relaxed which is always great to be around. One of my favorite details is Rachel’s wedding shoes. Not all of our brides can kick it in style AND comfort all night! I still think that Doug should have rocked the wedding in the Palomar’s leopard print robe and a Phillies’ hat!
The ceremony was stunning at Dumbarton House and extremely personal which makes it the best. A family friend of Doug’s married the couple and had known Doug forever.
They decided not to go for a traditional wedding cake but Rachel surprised Doug with a cake featuring his team (Philadelphia Eagles) on half and her team (Washington Redskins) on the other half. For the “cutting”, they got to take out their aggression on the opposing side.
Thank you both for having us and for being a truly wonderful couple!
