Sarah and Ilan’s wedding was absolutely beautiful at the Tremont Grand in Baltimore. Sarah had 12 bridesmaids between family and friends and Ilan had 1 groomsman and it worked perfectly. We always tell couples that trying to “even out” the sides is a bad idea — just have the people you really care for and if it’s uneven, so be it.
We started out with the couple getting ready at the hotel. Having 12 bridesmaids getting ready, I figured there would be a lot going on but the bridal suite was just a picture of calm which was great. I have to give HUGE props to Ilan’s fashion choice. We always see our brides with beautiful and expensive dresses that they wear once and often the guys are in ill-fitting rental tuxes. Ilan wasn’t having that so he had a perfectly tailored suit, great shoes, watch and cufflinks (all of which he will wear again!!). He certainly didn’t upstage the bride but it was a great compliment to her beautiful dress.
We searched around the Tremont Grand for the perfect place for their first look. We always like something beautiful but also where they can have some privacy. Once we stumbled on the stairwell, it was a no brainer. The sequence of photographs of Ilan waiting for her and of her coming down the staircase are my favorite first look photographs ever. I made sure Sarah was comfortable walking down the stairs and boy am I glad she was!
After that, it was off to the Ketubah Signing and a wedding. Unfortunately, Sarah’s father had passed away so during the ceremony, the rabbi wrapped them in a tallit remembering her father. I know it was an emotional moment but it was a beautiful moment.
The reception was in a stunning room and wasn’t full of too many moving parts. A great first dance, a quick welcome and prayer and then a night filled with dinner and dancing.
(I have to give a huge thank you to my 2nd photographer Stephen who shot his ass off that day! We pride ourselves on 2nd photographers who shoot at the highest level, and Stephen nailed it!)
