Yael and Pete capped a double-header of wedding weekends for us taking us from a Chesapeake Bay wedding on Friday to their Willard Hotel wedding in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. I absolutely love being in different locations all the time and making everything look new and fresh.
Both Yael and Pete live in New York City but Yael is originally from this area and Pete brought everyone over from England. I was absolutely in love with Yael’s dress. It was so much fun to photograph and it looked amazing on her. After putting it on, she mentioned that she felt like a cupcake. In her mind (and in mine too), that’s a good thing!
Pete was just hilarious and reminded me of a lot of my British friends. Funny, laid-back… Cliff Owen was photographing the wedding with me and got a great portrait of Pete with his hat and cane that he used for the Grand Entrance.
While we are looking to make beautiful photographs, what we really want are photographs of beautiful moments and the day was full of them from their first look, to Yael’s mom kissing her after signing the Ketubah, to a beautiful first kiss and jubilation after breaking the glass in the Jewish ceremony. Their first dance was just awesome and a huge surprise with the choreography for most of the guests. Terri and her staff from Bash did an absolutely amazing job planning the whole day!
It only seemed fitting with a British groom closely following the Royal Wedding that many of the ladies (both British and American) wore fascinators and hats to celebrate the day. (full transparency: I would never have known what a fascinator was if it wasn’t for watching the Royal Wedding!) It was fun pulling them aside for individual portraits to show them all off.
All in all, it was two beautiful weddings in two days for us and there is nothing wrong with that at all!
