Our bride’s brother was a student of mine when I taught photography at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. From his first assignment, I wasn’t sure how well he was going to do but after that he rocketed to the top of the class and went on to assist me at our weddings and intern at my old paper (and is becoming an accomplished filmmaker). So it was a huge honor to get the call that his sister was getting married in Dallas and that they wanted me to fly down to photograph it.
I can’t say enough for their sense of style and design. The Mandap for the ceremony was built with a catwalk to enter on (a first for us). The Reception room was draped at one end with a cutout for the cake 10 feet up (a first for us). The dance floor was chromed (a first for us). The large video screen played Bollywood and music videos during the dancing which was so cool (and was a first for us). Cassy from Events by Hala and Vikram Panicker from Elegant Affairs did an unbelievable job!
P+R might also win for best dancing couple ever! Our groom wasn’t a big fan of being in front of the camera for portraits but the minute he hit the dance floor, it was all on! It was great to watch them surprise everyone by jumping up as part of a dance put on by a bunch of their friends.
